The Jacksonville Public Education Fund had an amazing response to the release of our new policy paper today! We started the day with briefing sessions with state legislators and then community members and had a successful press conference following the release of the report. It couldn't be more important time to talk about funding for public education. In 2011, the state of Florida cut 1.4 billion from public education; in Duval County, the board wrestled with a $91 million shortfall. Further reductions will make 2012 no easier. School funding is a volatile and emotional issue, and it is complicated.
